Terrible experience. Our waiter literally forgot about us. Ordered, waited an hour, didn't get our sushi/rolls. When I went to ask why, found out the waiter set order sheet on the side somewhere!! All he said was, "sorry I got a call and forgot your order". Only reason we stayed was because we were starving. I don't care how good your food is, if you are going to give service like this, then no thanks. Never coming here ever again.

As a world traveler, I have had sushi in many different countries but this is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! My gf and I come here at least twice a week because we can't get enough of how fresh and delicious the sushi is! Lee always does a great job and hope everyone gives this place a try! Every roll is so good that I always am in a dilemma.

Terrible food! We had their udon, and they were simply bland. Their seemed to be no passion in the cooking. We also had their sushi and they offered such small portions. That's fine if the quality was good, however the fish didnt look fresh. We complained to the waiter about the udon and got no response. Would never go back.

They are very understaffed, it's obvious. But a lot of these reviewers who take issue with it clearly have no patience or understanding for hardworking, short handed individuals who are clearly doing all they can to be accommodating, and these people should be ashamed that they expect to be treated like royalty. Anyways, their bubble tea is delicious and I am a big fan of their sake. Their sushi is good, I've had better but I've also had worse, but where they shine is their lunch and dinner selections.

Hands down the BEST sushi in the area. It is always ice cold, fresh and delicious. The restaurant is clean and the service is quick and friendly. There is a full bar (just get a Sapporo with a frozen glass). Also- bubble tea! :)

The price is reasonable, actually a very good value. The food was very good, as is the Sushi Chef. The wait staff was less than "up to par" for other similar restaurants. They were pleasant, but not present. Basically, the waiter took my order.... brought me hot tea and cold water to drink, but that's about it. He didn't check back to see if I wanted anything else, (I was considering getting more to drink than just water, and possibly ordering more Sushi later), didn't bring over / setup anything for the sushi (I had to grab soy sauce myself from the wait staff setup station at the end of the Sushi Bar, and even though I use it sparingly it was annoying to have to go find it). The Sushi chef delivered the food, which is ok, as I was sitting at the Sushi Bar, but the waiter failed to check in to see how things were. When I gave my initial order, I told the waiter I might order more, however he never came back to see if that was the case. All in All, the food was good, the service was questionable. If I was out on a Date, I'd probably not go there UNTIL after I'd been back several times, and I had had better experiences with the wait staff. For now, My Go To Sushi restaurant in Rochester remains Take Sushi, where you are greeted, seated, offered a warm towel, provided Initial beverages, a bowl of miso & a salad, your main meal choice, and where the wait staff check back often enough to provide what you want, and feel attended to without being overly invasive. Oh and the Sushi is also Top Notch, has been well reviewed for years, and is a great value.

My boyfriend recommended Sakura as the "best sushi" you'll ever have. He was right! Not only is the price reasonable, but the sushi is amazing and they accommate to your needs. I hate cucumber and all I do is cross out the cucumber in the description and write in whatever else I want. The presentation of the food is amazing and the chef always gives us free rolls to try (although, every time we go in we spend $50+ so this might be why). They remember us and always treat us well.

Wow... What a disappointment. Previous reviews were a bit mixed, but, gave overall accolades. Unfortunately, we found out (after going there for the 1st time tonight) that they are under new (mis)management. No one (waitstaff) ever came up to us. We had to seat ourselves, grab our own menus, order, etc. The sushi chef (after 10-15 minutes) had to ask us if we wanted something to drink. Sub-zero Temps and still they have fruit-flies everywhere! Where the hell were they coming from?!? Anyhow... we've been to MANY sushi places in the tri-county area, and, this unfortunately is one of the worst wait-staffed we've ever experienced. Will not go again. They suck.... BAD! Will be going back to 'Take' (sushi restaurant, Rochester Hills). Take's always given us great service AND great product. Learned our lesson.

Lee has the best sushi in town. Great presentation and the freshest fish around. I am trying to get his takeout and menu added to yelp.

It was date night and we wanted to try a new place. This was the winner. We love the location. It's situated in a plaza full of yummy new places to try. We were surprised to find only 2 other party dining there. Our waitress was very attentive. The owner came over to talk to us. He was very nice and friendly. We ordered, sashimi app, yellowtail cheek or collarbone, and the first roll under their specialty section. I forgot the name, for good reason. It was the only thing that wasn't good. I believe it was wrapped in soy sheet which they called white seaweed? Idk. It tasted bad. Oh the spicy salmon handrolls were really good. The extra point they get is for having boba tea! Very hard to find a good boba place. We had their milk tea and they serve it slushed style here. Yum! Seriously most everything we ordered were good minus that roll. We will be back next time we're in the area. ^^

Trying to get the word out about one of the best sushi spots in Rochester. They do a wonderful job with sushi presentation. The taste and textures are phenomenal as well. We live close to here and would hate for this gem to fade into the darkness like its neighbor next door. I am a California native and I would rival the sushi here to what I would routinely get in the sunny state.

Best sushi place in town. We love také and sumo, but this place takes the win. It's clean, beautiful, and the servers are all very sweet and attentive! Everyone must try here, nothing but great experiences!!
(5)Chris G.
Top notch quality fish, great service and a nice atmosphere. Hands down the best sushi place in Rochester.
(5)Michael P.
Sushi was really good. Service was homey but very attentive. We too tried bubble tea and it was really good. Like smoothie with flavored gelatin balls in it. The chef even made us an extra "chef's creation" roll halfway thru our meal- BONUS! Surprised this place wasn't busier. We will definitely be back.

FOOD: 3 stars. Nigiri sushi was ok. Consistency and taste of rice could have been better. Salmon was great, tasted fresh. Yellowtail and white tuna were so-so. Agedashi tofu had great texture and taste on its own, but the sauce was too thick and sweet. Ginger salad was unremarkable. SERVICE: 1 star. Waitress wrote down our order incorrectly. After we corrected her, she read the order back to us incorrectly! It took half a minute to clarify everything. Even then, she forgot a drink order (which we eventually remedied), and she never served a soup we ordered. She was certainly a friendly person, but I can't forgive that degree of absentmindedness at a not-cheap sushi restaurant. LOCATION/AMBIANCE: Easy to find. Located in a shopping center. Clean, safe. I don't think I'll be back unless I happen to find myself in Rochester Hills with a deep craving for salmon sushi.

I came here on a Thursday night and was a little skeptical to go through with a meal because when I walked in I realized I was the only person inside. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll to which they brought out a 3 piece roll that was rolled in a humongous impossible way to take a bite of and was different than described in menu. On top of that it was $13 and tasted like any other roll I could have gotten down the street for $7.00. There are much better sushi places in the area for half the price. If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. Terrible

NOT the place to go if you are looking for traditional Japanese sushi. I was surprised to find that the rolls we ordered had some sort of weird Asian fusion style that both looked unappetizing and was quite unsettling in the stomach. The dynamite roll had some sort of weird mashed beef looking concoction on top that tasted really weird - avoid ordering at all costs. Even the simple eel and avocado roll was not very satisfying. After a lunch there with the family, two of us had upset stomachs and one ended up with food poisoning! The ginger salad was very refreshing however (and a more generous portion than usual at sushi places) and it was a pleasant surprise when we received complementary green tea ice cream for dessert; however, that did NOT make up for the poor sushi.

I've been here twice lately due to the cravings for bright red tuna and obtaining extreme coupons. They still do not have a liquor license. In my mind, they make up for it with bubble tea. Both times, the sushi has not been as quality as previous visits, and the service has been terrible. The rolls seem smaller as well. Very slow and rude waitstaff, particularly when I break out a coupon. I have never been charged for a miso soup in my life before coming here. Especially after ordering over $40 in sushi! Also with each visit, the crowd gets smaller and smaller. I do not see this place staying open much longer.

Okay okay, I had to go back and add that last star. You guys, I'm obsessed. We've been back to Sakura 3? 4? times now (since my review less than a month ago, sort of embarrassing I guess), and every time the food has been spot on. Service is friendly, and I'm over my desire for soup&salad (I just get the salad now, whatever, I don't even care about miso soup anymore). The sushi is fresh, beautiful, and delicious. My new favorite sushi spot.

Terrible Terrible Terrible customer service. I went in there with my wife to get a carry out order. The waiter said it would be 30 minutes. I was really hungry but thought it's better than using more time and effort to find another place. Well, it took an hour, which is double the time they quoted me. I went home and when I opened the box, I found it was a completely different order. I phoned them up to tell them and I got absolutely no apology. I was asked "what do you want us to do about it?". How unacceptable! They messed up my order. They are the ones who are supposed to tell me how they are going to rectify the situation. So I said I don't know, but the person on the phone insisted that I need to think of a solution. So I said, bring the correct order to my house, which of course they wouldn't fulfill. So then he said, you can come back here and get your correct order... Uh.. no I don't think I wanna drive over there and get it and come back and do all of that when it's their fault. They are supposed to compensate me! All of this could have been forgiven and looked over if they just went out of there way a little bit to rectify this situation, but no, they didn't. And I don't bother with leaving reviews for restaurants and hotels.. even when I get bad quality or service, but this is one that I had to make an exception about and leave an order. I will never go here again, and I hope anyone reading this will take my advice. Oh, and since I had the wrong order, I thought I may as well begrudgingly eat it. I took one bite and threw the whole box in the trash. There are plenty of other things that aren't food right now that I can think of that I would rather eat. And this isn't because I'm mad. Objectively speaking, the food is terrible.

My favorite sushi place in town! Staff is very friendly and the sushi is very fresh. The restaurant is clean and quiet. Check this place out!

I came here with my family again, and was surprised by how popular this restaurant has become. I ordered the Sushi Deluxe, and my sushi came extremely fast. Again I was impressed by the quality of the nigiri and the freshness of the fish. Overall, one of the top sushi restaurants in the area. Only downside was that the service was a bit slow.
(4)Nick C.
Not great. Not bad either. Big minus: no alcohol served here. Sushi without sake... What? Skip this one and try Take Sushi. So much better AND they have sake.
(3)Jerami K.
Most excellent Sushi! Better than the famous names in Las Vegas! Service was top notch, food was outstanding (LARGE portions for the sashimi!), and the atmosphere was upscale without being over the top. They are kind of hidden in the shopping center, so keep looking.. find the fitness club and look West, over by the nail salon. New favorite place for lunch.
(5)Rachel M.
Very good food. I used to come here a lot back a few years ago. The sushi is fresh as anything and the staff is very friendly. I went with my blind friend back in December and they're very accommodating and made him feel very comfortable. The stuff from the kitchen is excellent too. Try their bubble tea and eel sushi!

My husband and I ate at dinner at Sakura this weekend. We thought we had discovered all the decent sushi restaurants in SE Michigan, so this place was a very pleasant surprise. They offered the freshest eda mame we've had and their specialty rolls were as interesting and as delicious as they come. I ordered the Angel roll and was completely blown away by the unique taste combination and the presentation was gorgeous. My husband had the Fantastic roll and it really was fantastic. The fish combination in the roll was perfect - fresh, tender and interesting. As soon as Sakura gets their liquor license, we'll be regulars. One final thought - the music was great: modern Japanese house/dance and the service was good as well.

Went here last night. It was fantastic! Everything was very fresh. We had the crazy tuna roll, the spider roll, angel roll, firecracker roll, spicy tuna roll, and tuna, yellowtail, and scallop nigiri. We we also given samples of the black pepper tuna with avocado nigiri and a white tuna, slightly seared with a little ponzu sauce, scallion and topped with caviar. Everything was very very good. Some of the best soft shell crab I've had in a while. Bubble tea was some of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend and will be returning
(5)Lusi F.
The food was okay - we got the boat for two, which had pretty big portions, but it was a bit pricier than other stores and the two rolls we received were pretty much the same, they were "chef's specials."

I brought my niece here for her birthday. We both have never eaten there before and we are glad that we did. Sushi was great and the staff was very friendly. Ambiance was great too. Will definitely going to be back.
(4)Jon S.
Quality sushi Friendly service I'm interested in returning to try the unique sashimi
(4)Brian K.
Sakura Sushi has to be the best sushi I've ever had outside of NYC and L.A. Professional service, clean, and fairly priced menu. Their is something for everyone. I got the sushi sashimi combo and a tempura udon. Sushi quality was A+ and the udon was the best I've had in Michigan. Definitely a weekly spot for me and my family from now on.
(3)David C.
No alcohol. They were rude to me, and the salmon tasted like rubber. Not going back. Also the sea weed salad was in some sort of gelatin that also was rubbery. Just a terrible rubbery experience. Yuck yuck yuck.

So yummy and fresh! The sushi is the right ratio of fill:rice and the freshness is unmatched in the Metro Detroit areas. Put that with reasonable prices and it is in competition for my #1 sushi joint. Now, I just need it to be closer to my house....
(5)Melissa F.
Went here with a group of 13 to celebrate my birthday. We primarily ordered sushi but several members did order off the menu. Sushi was fresh and delicious. There are a wide variety of rolls to order and the menu seemed pretty extensive. Food ordered from the menu smelled amazing! All entrees come with miso soup. Our waitress was very attentive. Will be returning!

Went for the first time and I enjoyed every moment of it. My partner had the teriyaki chicken and loved it. The kids had the tempera udon and finished it including the broth, and wanted more. The sushi was amazingly delicious. Service was over the top and the server, Nit, was amazing with our kids. The sushi chef, Steve, even came over and conversated with us. And the owner, Wilson, was friendly and kind. This is our go to spot and I cannot wait to go back.
(5)Jennifer D.
We came in for a late dinner and sat there for about 10-12 min and no one came to us for a drink order or anything. We even told the hostess and she went in the kitchen to get our server and they still didn't come out. So we walked out and are went some where else to eat.
